If you’re managing a Facebook page, you might have noticed that your layout changed sometime in July. That’s because Facebook was experimenting with a few layout variations.
Now it appears that Facebook has finalized the new layout and rolled it out across the board on all business pages. Love it or hate it, the new layout is here to say.
In this post, we’ve outlined 17 things you need to know about the new Facebook update.
1. The Facebook cover photo size has changed
Although the new size hasn’t changed by much, you may need to make some minor adjustments when creating Facebook cover photos. The old Facebook cover size was 851px by 315px while the new cover photo displays at 828px by 315px on desktop. This means that the width of the cover photos has slightly decreased. Not to worry, we’ve already updated our Facebook cover size and all of our templates inside of Snappa. If you need to convert an older cover photo to accommodate the new size, you can make use of our image resize feature.
2. The profile photo no longer overlaps with the cover photo
This is one change that we were very excited to see. The profile pictures is now located on the left side of the cover photo. With the profile picture out of the way, this frees up a lot more real estate on the cover photo itself. You no longer need to worry about accounting for the profile picture.
3. The like and share buttons have moved
Once again, Facebook has made the smart decision to move the like, message and share buttons that were previously overlapping the cover photo. Now they appear directly under the cover photo.
If you hover over the “More” dropdown, it gives you a full range of options for engaging with the company’s Facebook page.
This means that 100% of your Facebook cover photo will now be visible.
4. The navigation tabs are now on the left (and you can manage them)
Another thing that’s new is the location of the navigation tabs. Previously they were located on the top navbar and now they’ve moved to the left hand side of the page. What’s cool about the new navigation buttons is that you can actually add, remove or reorder the tabs. To do this, click on “Manage Tabs.”
5. The Call To Action button is prominent and customizable
In my opinion, this is one of the best changes that Facebook’s made in the new layout. Now all pages have a prominent blue call to action button on their page that is fully customizable
On our page, you’ll notice that we have a “Sign Up” button since we want people to try our software. However, you have tons of different options.
To customize your CTA button, hover over the button and click “Edit Button”. From there, you can specify what the button says and the website/app URL.
6. You can search for posts on the page
Facebook has introduced a handy little search box so you can easily search the page for older posts.
7. Sections are on the right side
The sections of your Facebook page are now located on the right hand side. This includes things like photos, videos, events, and so on.Just like the navigation tabs on the left, you can fully customize your page sections. By hovering over the the labels, you can click the pencil icon to add, delete, or rearrange sections.
8. Adding event RSVPs as an ad-targeting option.
9. Faster-loading links will be placed higher on mobile News Feeds.
10. Removing their apps Life stage and Groups.
11. Updating their clicks and ad impression reporting.
12. Updating video re-share metrics to give creators better insights.
13. Announcing their 2nd Quarter 2017 results.
14. Testing “going live” features from Facebook Camera.
15. Testing adding Stories to their desktop site.
16. Rolling out more Messenger ads globally.
17. Introducing two new video platforms, Watch and Show Pages.
Why Twitter Ads Boost Business
Twitter can be a positive way to market your services and product. If not set up and monitored correctly, you could be throwing money down the drain. Twitter can be a very useful way to market but you must have a firm grasp of its possibilities and limitations. Twitter has changed their algorithm to entice users to take more advantage of their paid advertising. It is easier to increase local and organic use by correctly setting up and analyzing ad metrics
An Insider’s Guide to Increasing followers, gaining website traffic, and much more with Twitter advertising, market locally with hashtags and how to set up your profile and start tweeting, we’re going to review how you make use of the paid side of Twitter to help grow your business online.
Why use Twitter Advertising?
Twitter ads are a great way to really expand your business reach and get your content in front of your ideal target market.
Twitter has enticed business owners into taking the plunge by making their platform one of the best of the majors when it comes to targeting the right users.
There was a time when Twitter offered much better organic reach as most social media giants have.
They did this to gain market advantage; however, once their user base was established, they monetised their platform by restricting the organic reach, forcing users to make use of their paid option.
So by selected the right interests, key phrases, and demographics you have a very low-cost per click method of reaching qualified leads.
How to Set Up Twitter Advertising ?!
First post and schedule your regular tweets and then begin your campaign creation after since your tweets are what you’ll be using in the promotional campaign.
After logging in Twitter click on your profile photo and:
1. Select Twitter Ads
2. At the top right you can see where it says Create Campaign
3. Select Create Campaign
4. Now you can pick which kind of paid campaign you’d like to try.
5. If you’re building up your Twitter account try the Followers campaign type. If you’re looking to drive people towards your site and you have the content to reflect that then select Website clicks or conversions.
6. There are other options for more advanced users such as video promotion and app promotion but we’re going to stick with the most used options noted above.
7. Once you’ve made your selection, you’ll see your campaign budget information.
8. Pay close attention to this. Twitter (like most social giants) tends to assume we all have money to burn and will have some big numbers pre-filled. I believe the current pre- filled number is a daily budget of $127.50. Set yours to something much lower while you test Twitter Ads out. I suggest $5 a day and a total budget of $25 for a one work-week campaign.
9. Next select your Date Range. Twitter tends to auto-populate this with about a month timeline. For your first trial let’s stick with a 5-day work week as noted above.
10. After you click through you’ll get to select your “creatives”. These are the tweets you’ve posted that will be used for your campaign.
Starting steps:
11. Select the tweets you posted with the intent of either driving users towards content or your website.
12. Now you get to set up the targeting.
13. When targeting get as specific as you can with what you want in your preferred audience. As stated in point 12, you should select targeting parameters that align with the original intention of your tweet.
14. Pick locations where you know your content will resonate with users. If you deal locally then promote locally.
15. Pick the gender of the preferred audience for your campaign.
16. In the bottom field, you want to spend most of your time.
Pick interests and key phrases that best identify your preferred audience.
If your business sells doorknobs then type in doorknobs to start your search. Find interests related to doors. Select any key phrase you know to be relevant to your content on Twitter regarding the sale of doorknobs.
17. You want to align your audience target with your actual target for the content. If your tweets direct back to your site then be general about your business. Ads targeting a blog or video should be targeted at users who have expressed interest in that precise niche.
To continue with our established analogy this could mean targeting users interested in brass door handles because you have content you’re promoting that is specifically about brass door handles.
18. Now click next and you’ll be taken to your ad group bid. If running a lot of ad groups with separate purposes you can set new ad group budget totals here. For now you can leave this as is. The second option for target bid vs. automatic bid is more advanced and doesn’t really factor into the success much. Leaving it as Automatic bid is fine.
19. Now click next and you’re ready to launch!
Use Your Twitter Advertising Metrics for Future Campaigns
Once the campaign has completed its run you can review the performance in this same Twitter ads section.
Look at Impressions but more so Clicks and your Cost Per Click. With Twitter it’s normally very low compared to other services.
Online Social Network Addiction
Addiction to online social networking, as well as Internet addiction types in general. Are recent and insufficiently investigate phenomena, frequently discuss and sometimes dispute in the psychiatric literature.
Addiction types could affect the addictive nature of SNS is support primarily by the mental preoccupation of many chronic SNS users who as a result tend to neglect other aspects of their social functioning such as family and offline friends.
In addition, according to our own observations, sudden cessation of online social networking (i.e., lack of Internet connection) may in some chronic users cause signs and symptoms that at least partially resemble the ones seen during drug/alcohol/nicotine abstinence syndrome.
Online social networking as a potential addiction disorder has so far been discuss in many publications. SNS addiction represents a relatively new issue in psychiatry research, and as with other potentially SNS-related disorders, many questions remain unanswered.
In 2012, Andreassen et al. develop the Facebook Addiction Scale, a scoring system initially based on a total of 18 items, testing features of addiction such as salience, mood modification, tolerance, withdrawal, conflict, and relapse.
The authors applied the scale along with other questionnaires (such as Addictive Tendencies Scale, Online Sociability Scale, etc.) on a sample of 423 students.
The test show a relatively high reliability and proved to be applicable to the student population. The same year, regarding this study, Griffiths expressed concern that the term “Facebook addiction” may be obsolete due to a large variety of activities that can do it on Facebook besides conventional social networking (i.e., playing games).
Nevertheless, any attempt to design a scoring system that would be able to quantify at least a certain aspect of social networking addiction is, in our opinion, an important addition to the present knowledge in this field.
Questionnaire addiction
Wolniczak et al. recently adapted The Internet Addiction Questionnaire in order to test Facebook dependence in the student population. The authors also tested the sleep quality of Facebook users using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.
The results showed that Facebook dependence may be related to poor quality of sleep. To our knowledge, this is the first study to modify existing questionnaires for Internet addiction in order to test Facebook use.
Probably, the most important question is whether SNS addiction is actually a mental disorder, and whether it should diagnosed and treated as such.
The Tenth Revision of the International Classification of Diseases and Health Problems (ICD-10) defined several specific criteria for dependence syndrome such as a strong desire or sense of compulsion.
Difficulties in controlling consumption behavior, physiological withdrawal state after reduction or cessation, evidence of tolerance, and so on. A diagnosis should made if three or more of the above-mentioned criteria are present (at a certain time point) during the previous year.
Addiction types
It is clear that many of these diagnostic criteria could be apple to a minor percentage of chronic Facebook users who, as a result of this prolong computer use, have problems in normal everyday functioning.
However, one must be very careful with this approach, since in the future it could be quite difficult to distinguish SNS addiction from Internet addiction, which is a much more general disorder (Internet addiction disorder, problematic Internet use, or compulsive Internet use).
Furthermore, it should be note that neither Internet nor SNS addiction include the latest disease classification manuals such as Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). In addition, SNS and Internet-relate mental problems are frequently seen together with other diagnose mental illnesses, or, in other words, these problems are complicate by co-morbidity.
Therefore, it remains unclear whether potential SNS addiction is an independent illness, or merely a manifestation of other mental issues such as, for example, personality disorders.
All in all, it remains to see whether SNS addiction will ever be recognizable as a separate mental disorder.
It can be expect that in the future, this issue will be a focal point of many research studies, and that, in the years to come, it will become the subject of a wide debate among psychiatrists, psychologists, and other specialists.
The final results and conclusions will have a substantial impact on the future organization of the mental health system, particularly considering that online social networking affects such a large proportion of the world population.
How To Handle Media Influences On Youth
Exposure to media is a part of modern life, but you can help your child identify what is worth spending time and what isn’t and how Handle Media Influences On Youth . Here are some ways to handle the influence of social media on teenagers:
Check out the music, movies, TV shows, games and celebrities your child likes. Once you know what is interesting to him, you can spot the pictures and messages that are influencing him.
It is quite easy for your teen to watch YouTube videos on mobiles so that you may not know what he is watching. Try monitoring your child on what he is watching on TV or the internet and try to negotiate some limits and rules.
One of the best ways to help your teen navigate the influences on media is to talk about messages. For instance, if your teen loves girls, you can talk to him about female friendships, life choices, self-esteem and sexuality.
Monitoring your teen’s choices does not mean you ban him from watching media. It is just making him aware of the negative influences. It is a good idea to limit on how much your teen plays video games or watches TV.
You should also choose to ban some apps, shows and games. Explain why you are doing so.
You can also encourage your teen to interpret media by putting forward some questions he can ask. Pick out a TV ad or a magazine and ask your teen: who’s behind it, what is their motivation, how does it make him feel, what does he need from it, and so on.
You can do the same with your teen’s role model. Encourage your teen to ask himself like why does he like that celebrity, does he follow him in real life, what values of the celebrity interest your teen and so on.
Tips For Parents:
You as a parent have the responsibility to help your teen make the right choices. Here are a few tips to make media a positive influence in your teen’s life:
Sit down as a family and discuss the pros and cons of media. Encourage your teen to express her feelings about various programs and media outlets.
Help your teen differentiate between reality and fantasy.
Try to keep TVs, video games, etc. out of your teen’s bedroom.
Use parental control. Block channels and websites you think are inappropriate for your teen. But make sure to tell your teenager why exactly you have blocked these media outlets.
Limit TV viewing to 2-3 hours every day. Try to spend time together as a family doing other activities.

Written social media applications:
Twitter
Twitter is an ongoing conversation that, like text messaging, has become widely popular. Unlike Facebook and other social media platforms, where people can choose what to look at on your site, or respond later, Twitter is more “in the moment.”
It’s a marvelous tool for businesses that want to reach out to people now and expect–and are ready for–people to reply.
If you have breaking news, updates, questions for your followers, or if you want opinions now or even need to announce a recall, Twitter is the way to reach out to people. It’s for the business that has things to say frequently and prefers to reach people directly.
Facebook
Facebook is one of the most powerful social platforms in the world. It’s size alone is a positive for any business, because you can assume most people are on it.
Unlike Twitter, you can choose what to look at and what to share. This gives businesses more opportunities to represent themselves in various ways. Facebook is about a long-term commitment and building relationships, although there’s some immediacy as you can reply directly to people’s comments or questions.
Almost any business can benefit from having a Facebook page. But Facebook isn’t about selling. Your goal in using Facebook for business is to let customers get to know the people behind the logo.
ex:photos should illustrate not just you at your desk but your dog at a company event. If you make it correctly, your fans become loyal followers and Facebook can be a very significant lead generator.
